Olympian City Branch was officially opened on 23 Oct. The new branch occupies a total floor area of 5,000 square feet and comprises an Express Banking. It has been specially designed to deliver a wide range of banking products and services to meet our customers' total financial needs.

Citywalk branch was officially opened on 16 Sep 08. The new branch has a total floor space of over 10,000 square feet, providing a wide range of banking services to customers. This is part of PFS's service expansion plan to demonstrate our commitment to and progressive outlook on service enhancements.

The HSBC Mong Kok flagship branch officially opened on 28 Aug 08. Innovatively designed and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, it raises the bar for quality banking. Chairman Vincent Cheng said, 'This revolution in banking is actually part of an ongoing evolution. A step-by-step journey towards serving HSBC customers better.' This is just one of a number of projects that Personal Financial Services has in the pipeline to enhance customer service. Others include the expansion of the HSBC branch and HSBC ATM network.

The Bank has been awarded top performer in the categories 'Credit Card Services' and 'Internet Banking' at NEXT Magazine's 'Top Service Awards 2008' ceremony. Winners were decided based on, a stringent first round of short-listing candidates and then an intense second round of public voting. This is the third consecutive year that the Bank has won the awards. HSBC is the only winner from the banking industry.

We opened East Point City branch in Tseung Kwan O on 2 June 2008. Equipped with 15 service counters and a Premier Centre, the branch helps strengthen our customer and branch network coverage. Automated teller machines (ATMs) have also been added in nine locations across the territory. They are part of PFS's service expansion plan to demonstrate our commitment and progressiveness in service enhancements.

HSBC credit card and internet banking services has won the Sing Tao Excellence Services Brand 2007 Award. Since the start of this Award in 2006, local consumers have voted HSBC credit card and internet banking services as the Excellence Services Brand for 2 consecutive years.

HSBC received the Platinum Award in the Bank and Card Issuing Bank categories in the Hong Kong market, and the Gold Award in the Card Issuing Bank category in the Asia market in the Reader's Digest Trusted Brands 2008. Reader's Digest Trusted Brands' results were based on an Asia-wide consumer survey conducted by Nielson Media Research, covering Hong Kong China, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

HSBC has beaten out 150 banks in the region to win 4 prestigious awards from The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards 2008 programme, including the highest award of Best Retail Bank in Asia Pacific, Best Retail Bank in Hong Kong, Excellence in Distribution Network Integration and Excellence in Internet Banking.

HSBC received a total of 19 awards by Visa, MasterCard and China Unionpay in 2008. Among the accolades, HSBC was named 'Bank of the Year' by Visa and MasterCard respectively. This is the eighth consecutive year that HSBC has won the 'Bank of the Year' award from MasterCard, an all time record for any bank in Hong Kong. We have also received 5 awards from UnionPay, demonstrating our leading position in the Renminbi card market.

Central Branch at the Basement, 29 Queen's Road Central, Central, was officially opened on 2 May 2008. HSBC now offers a better, more comprehensive banking service to both international and local customers.

The Bank recently received the top 2007 China Charity Award (foreign company category) from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in recognition of the Bank's outstanding contribution to the Mainland community. HSBC is the only foreign corporation to have won the award for three consecutive years since its establishment in 2005. Since 1990, the Bank has committed more than RMB200 million to about 200 philanthropic projects, benefitting people from 30 provinces.

Congratulations! 25 Super Local Heroes who each received a gold medal and cash prize for their exemplary customer service at the annual Local Hero Award Presentation Ceremony hosted by Rosanna Hon, Head of Customer Experience. Building on the Olympics theme, Level 28 of HSBC Main Building was transformed into a medal presentation venue to honour our heroes. The winners also lighted up the cauldron to symbolise the Olympic spirit in overcoming difficulties and striving for new heights.

Congratulations to our colleagues in Maritime Square branch, the winner of MTRC's Total Quality Service Regime 2007. Since its launch in 2002, the Regime aims to motivate and recognise tenants in the MTRC Shopping Malls in providing quality customer service. Among all participating banks, Maritime Square branch came top in total performance score. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Bank has received this award.

To celebrate the Year of the Rat with customers, the Bank has arranged God of Wealth together with a magician to visit 94 branches from 11 to 13 February 2008. The event was marked by an unique fusion of ancient customs and modern entertainment. Customers were thrilled to receive chocolates from God of Wealth while the magician performed firecracker tricks.

A new 5-in-1 branch including HSBC Premier Centre, SME Centre, Financial Management Centre, General Banking and EasiService Banking Centre was officially opened at Kwai Hing on 14 November 2007. Located in an area that comprises both residential and industrial buildings, the new branch offers a better level of service and value to both personal and commercial customers.

At the Best Practice Awards 2007, HSBC won three awards, including Simplicity, Training and People Development and Technology Deployment. The awards recognise the efforts of Personal Financial Services, Learning and Development, Business Transformation and HSBC Technology Services in implementing various projects to enhance business processes. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Bank has won in the Best Practice Awards but it is the first time when one company wins in 3 categories out of 11 awards.
